What should a local visibility audit include?

A useful audit scores every branch, not the brand as a whole. It covers four things: profile completeness and consistency, ratings and review replies, the accuracy of menus, hours and links, and how branches rank against each other.

Branch by branch, not brand-wide

A brand-level summary tells you little. The value is in seeing which specific branches are behind and why.

The four areas

  • Profile completeness and consistency. Whether each branch presents the brand fully and in the same way. Google states that businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local search results (Google’s guidance on local ranking).
  • Ratings and review replies. Where each branch stands with customers, and which reviews went unanswered.
  • Menus, hours, and links. What is out of date or broken at each branch.
  • A ranking of locations. Which branches lead, which are on standard, and which need attention.

What a good audit gives you

A ranking of every branch, the specific gaps at each one, and a clear view of where to act first.

Questions to ask a provider

  • Does it cover every location?
  • Will we see the gaps for each branch, not only a summary?
  • When will we receive it?
  • Is there any obligation afterwards?
